Obituary for Mrs. Elnora Malveaux Dominick
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Mohorn Missionary Baptist Church, 219 Cosay Road, Opelousas, LA (Plaisance Community) for Elnora Malveaux Dominick.
Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Pastor, Rev. Nicholas Thomas will officiate the Celebration of Life.
Elnora “Nora” Malveaux Dominick transitioned into eternal peace on Friday, February12, 2021, in Walnut, CA. She was the oldest of seven children born on November 3, 1932, from the union of the late Fertina Malveaux, Sr. and the late Lou Anna LaFleur Malveaux. She was born and raised in Plaisance, Louisiana. Later she moved to Opelousas, Louisiana. Elnora met and married the love of her life, Loycie “Gabe” Dominick. Their union resulted with the birth of two children, Elrose Dominick Roberts and Shelton Lee Dominick. She was a loving and caring mother who always attempted to ensure that her children had the best possible life. She had one granddaughter, Roshelle Dominick Carter, who she loved and cherished dearly, to whom she would have given the world, if she could.
Elnora was a valued employee at Doctors Hospital in Opelousas for over 25 years. She retired in 1995. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with family members. Later, she enrolled in several cake decorating classes, and became proficient in the art of baking and decorating cakes. She was very sociable and often spent hours on the telephone with friends, previous work associates and family members. During her last four years, Elnora lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Walnut, CA. She enjoyed taking long walks with them, rocking in her favorite recliner chair, talking, watching television, and touring various points of interest in Los Angeles.
Elnora was a devoted member of Mohorn Baptist Church for over 50 years. She serve as a “Deaconess” for the church. Elnora was very religious and in the past, together with her husband, held prayer services at their home with other members of the church. She was also a compassionate and considerate person who always helped others in need.
Elnora is survived by one daughter, Elrose Roberts (Ivory) of Walnut, CA, one son, Shelton Lee Dominick of Opelousas, LA., and one granddaughter Roshelle Carter (Kyle) of Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by three sisters: Lora Lee of Beaumont, TX. , Loretta Bradley of Beaumont, TX, Elmich Pitre of Opelousas, LA., and one brother, Anthony Malveaux of Orange, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loycie “Gabe” Dominick, her parents: Fertina Malveaux, Sr. and Lou Anna Malveaux, two brothers: Fertina Malveaux, Jr. and Lamich Malveaux, and two brother-in-laws: Donald Pitre (Elmich) and James Bradley (Loretta). She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
The family request a quiet hour from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Mohorn Missionary Baptist Church. Guidelines will be dictated by the church for visitation.
